Synopsis and Discussion

AQI readings are low and Code Green to start the new workweek as low pressure continues to churn just offshore. Tranquil weather is anticipated over the next three days with highs in the 70s under mainly sunny skies. A backdoor cold front does look to sweep during the second half of Wednesday but no rainfall is expected. With October’s lower sun angle and shorter days, ozone averages are expected to net out in the Code Green range each day. There is the potential for decent temperature inversions to form each night that will act to trap fine particles close to the surface for several hours. Once daytime vertical mixing commences however, concentrations will decrease rapidly and daily averages are expected to net out in the mid to upper Code Green range, likely highest on Wednesday out ahead of the aforementioned front when some pooling of pollution may occur.
